Suitable for babies 6 months and onwards
Makes 3 x 1/3 cup servings

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup mashed ripe banana (use about 1 medium ripe banana)

• 6 level scoops milk powder (use one suitable for your child's age)

• 6 tbsps water

• 1 tbsp fresh orange juice

• 1/2 of a 10g sachet of clear unflavored gelatin or jelly powder

• 1/4 cup water

Method

1. Combine the mashed bananas, the milk dissolved in 6 tbsps water and the orange juice. Mix well. Set aside. You may also put these ingredients in a blender and process until very smooth or even colored.

2. In a heavy saucepan, off the fire, dissolve the gelatin powder in water.

3. Heat the dissolved gelatin. Cook for 1 to 2 mins, or until gelatin powder is completely dissolved and mixture thickens.

4. Remove from heat. Pour the gelatin mixture into the banana-milk mixture. Mix well.

5. Pour 1/3 - 1/2 cup each of the mixture into 2- 3 custard cups or pour into a feeding bowl.

6. Chill well until set.

Fact file

This dessert will definitely tempt any child, with its mildly sweet and tangy taste from the fruits added. It is easy to whip up and it's a good source of the essential nutrients: calcium, protein, vitamin C, potassium, and fibre.
