Crunchy munchy honey cakes are high in b vitamins such as Niacin as whole wheat breakfast cereals are usually fortified with vitamins and minerals. This is a good recipe for kids to make.


Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes
Suitable for: toddlers and older children


Ingredients:


• 4 cups whole wheat flakes

• 100 g butter

• 1 tbsp honey

• ¼ cup sugar

• 1 tbsp vanilla essence


Each honey cake contains:


• Energy 35 kcal

• Protein 0.3 g

• Fat 2.0 g

• Carbohydrate 3.7 g

• Fibre 0.4 g

• Niacin 0.33 mg


Method:


1. Melt butter and add sugar and honey.

2. Stir over low flame till sugar is dissolved, let mixture boil for 1-2 seconds and remove from heat.

3. Add vanilla essence.

4. Pour hot mixture over wheat flakes and combine till well mixed.

5. Spoon mixture into baby patty cake holders (around 1 inch by 1 inch).

6. Bake in oven at 170 Celcius for 4 minutes. Watch closely as honey cakes tend to burn easily.

7. Cool and store in airtight container.

8. Makes about 40.


Kid Friendly Steps:


1. Measuring out the cereal into a mixing bowl.

2. Arranging patty cake holders on baking tray.

3. Spooning mixture into patty cake holders.
