Suitable for toddlers and older children
Makes 1 loaf
Ingredients
• 700 g lean ground beef or chicken
• 3/4 cup quick cooking oats (uncooked)
• 1/2 cup chopped onion
• 1/2 cup chopped carrots
• 1.2 cup tomato sauce
• 1 egg, slightly whisked
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• 1 tablespoon mixed herbs
Method
1. Heat oven to 175°C.
2. In a big bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well.
3. Press the mixture firmly into a non-stick loaf tin (8" x 4").
4. Bake for about one hour until meat loaf is golden brown in colour.
5. Remove from oven let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Fact file
This is an all time favourite with children and the whole family. For a balanced meal, serve meat loaf slices with salads and baked potatoes, or rice/ noodles and cooked vegetables. Finish the meal with some fresh fruits.
