Breastfed babies have stronger immunity. They can fight virus better and get well faster should they ever fall sick. I witness this when I compare my theree kids. My eldest daughter is only breastfed for 2 months and her resistance to virus is lower compared to her sisters. I hope that all mothers can try to breastfeed their kids as long as they can. It is tired but it is a totally rewarding experience. I would say it is the best gift for your kids...great health!!!
It is common for babies and young children to get cold several times a year. Just to share my experience. I have 2 sons and I have been practising natural home remedies. When my baby was down with a cold at the age of 6 weeks. I gave nothing but breastmilk. So how to get rid of all the mucous and phlegm? Buy a suction that can effectively suck the mucous from the nose. Best time to do it is after shower. Same thing with removing phlegm Lie your baby on your lap facing down, gently pat on his/her back in a circular motion. They will spit it out. If not then try again other time.

Thank you

Breastfeeding is the best way to ensure baby is healthy and happy as baby can latch on anytime she wants and gets the best nutrition available. There may be difficulties - in my case, 1st child - i had cracked nipples and Post natal blues or depression, 2nd child was smoother but had the blues and sore nipples as well, 3rd child, i could only bf on one side as i developed granulomastitis on the other side and baby refused to drink from that side. had pus oozing out from a few holes. Still bfg and he's almost 2 yrs old.

2) Massage baby when he has psedo-constipation. massage tummy area in a "I love you"pattern, almost a straight line then back up to same spot and do a bit of hook pattern, then an upside down U pattern. My new born did not poop for about 10 days and after doing this he did

3) Introduce baby to older siblings and spend some time with the older ones so they do not feel jealous

The very 1st gift that a mother gives to her child, is the security and space for the unborn child to blossom and grow in her womb. The 2nd gift that a mother gives to her newborn child is the ability to produce that precious "Liquid Gold" - breastmilk, giving her child the best headstart in life to be healthy and strong. The road to breastfeeding is never easy but nevertheless, fulfilling and filled with a special bond between you and your baby for years to come! And the ability to drink milk is one of the important life skills for a baby to grow in amazing speed & strength! So go on, latch on! :)
