Other than hunger pangs, poo/pee sessions, babies cry for people to carry them. Rather than to spoil them by carrying them around, one could make a basket full of cushions, and place the baby in it, before putting them near window/door so that the view outdoor distract them.

My maternal grandmother passed away when I was barely ten. Back then, I never thought I would be a mother one day. Bringing up ten children, she passed down priceless parenting advice to my mother.

Twenty years have passed, and I am now a new proud mother of a beautiful baby boy! Evan is almost 4 months old now, and in the past four months, I have come to realize just how useful grandma's advice is.

Grandma said, "When babies cry, they are either hungry, dirty, tired, need to burp, or in discomfort."The secret is to feed him the 'right stuff' and all the rest will probably fall in to place quite effortlessly. If a baby feeds well, he/she will likely sleep through longer periods of time, hence will be less likely to be tired/grouchy quickly. When a baby feeds on the right milk, he/she will be able to pass motion easily, and will less likely have constipation and wind problems. The whole idea is cyclical. Eliminating most chances of discomfort, my baby will be happy and healthy! The problem is, WHAT do I feed Evan?

Back in the olden days, grandma did not have a choice but to breastfeed her children. It's proven science that breastfeeding is best, but in reality it is no easy feat. Some mothers are lucky and are blessed with a lot of milk even in their first weeks of childbirth. Others (like me!) struggle and feel like old cows when our babies get frustrated. With insufficient milk, how am I to feed my baby well and start the healthy cycle of Eat-Sleep-Play?

I thank God for technology. There are brands of milk formula which make fantastic supplements to breastfeeding. Dumex is one of them. Simulating breastmilk with Immunofortis, I still get peace of mind that my baby is off to a good start, building a strong immune system. The best thing is, he loves the taste. What is the point of buying Super Milk when my baby hates it, right? I had to switch formulas to get him to feed, but it was all worth it. His system works like a well-oiled engine now with regular pees, poos and burps. What grandma said was true!

We all know what is good, but life deals us challenges that are less than ideal sometimes. With a little help (thank you Dumex!) we'll find that there's a happier, healthier baby, and a happier , healthier MUMMY!

WHEN IN DANGER, WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T RUN IN CIRCLES, SCREAM AND SHOUT. LOOK FOR DUMEX AND THEY'LL HELP OUT!

Every baby is a special Gift!
Every baby is a Miracle!

Our baby was born at 28 weeks and weighs 1.8kg. He had to stay in hospital NICU for two weeks before the green light was given for him to come home with daddy and mummy. His first month was a very delicate period and we were very careful in caring for his every needs. In a week time, our baby will turn 6 months and he is weighing 8.2kg now. He is our pride and joy!

Our process of parenthood has been one with its fair share of pain - the lack of sleep, the stress of not knowing what to do when he cries, the waking up at wee hours, the changing of many many soiled diapers, the change in our own social lives, abstaining of certain food, and the list go on and on, and its fair share of joy - seeing the smile on our little fellow, seeing how peaceful he sleeps, watching him grow, feeling his touch, hearing the baby noises that is smoothing to our ears, an d the list go even longer. We enjoyed our parenthood.

Parenthood is made so much easier because of the support we get from family and friends. Having family and friends who have babies of the same age as ours helps us to exchange ideas, share our woes, share our stories and to gain encouragement and support. It helps us know that we are not alone. Happy parents = happy babies!

As parents the gifts we can give our dear little one is time. Time spent helps to build the bond and attachment between the baby and his parents. This should start right from the day the baby entered into this world. This bond and attachment give the baby the security and affirmation in exploring the world, knowing that this two figure (mum and dad) will be with him through it all. Even though we have both returned back to work, there is no one day that is spent without having family bonding time with our baby. Every evening and weekend are precious time with our baby. We bring him wherever we go - to meet our friends, for events, to church, to our church community, for grocery shopping and so one. This helps our baby get familiar with the people and activities that mum and dad are involved with and also help him to explore and be exposed.

The gift of breastfeeding is a precious and sacred gift a mum can give to her baby. It not only give the baby the nutrients he needs. It shows and provides the love and bonding the mum can give. The bond I have with my baby through breastfeeding is one that is so precious to me. The contact we share is one that is filled with so much love that words cannot describe. The bond that tells the baby that mummy is here to provide for your needs. I hope this bond will continue all the way that no matter what age, he knows that he can run to mummy when he is in need and mummy is always there for him. Breastfeeding is a gift that mummy can give freely to babies.

We are looking forward to even more adventure of parenthood and we wish all parents out there a fruitful and blessed parenthood! Every child is a gift from God! Give thanks to God!
Everyone knows that baby tends to have colic daily in the evening.
As a mother, reducing the colic frequency is what most mother will like to know.

I've just delivery my 2nd child and learn about some tips on colic reducing. I'll like to share with all moms who read this catalogies and hope to help as many of the new mothers as possible.

Tips:-
1) Type of Medical Oil to use.
Yuyee Medical Oil for new born has a little burning sensation on baby's tummy when applied. I'll recommend Eagle Brands Eucalytus Medical Oil. This medical oil has no burning sensation and it's suitable for full body massaging.

2) Baby's body Part to be massaged.
a) Tummy
b) baby's lower back
c) base of baby's feet (both sides)

3) Massage method
Soft touch is recommended for baby's massage.
Pressure message is not recommended on baby as we won't know if the baby would be able to accept the pressure we applied on them.

4) When to massage?
a) after morning bath and
b) early evening (around 5-6p.m.)

Note: a comfortable baby and free from colic baby is a happy baby.
1) With a new baby easiest is to breastfeed so you need not think about milk bottles, formula, sterilising. BF baby when plane is taking off and shortly before plane commences to land as tendency to get pain in the ear or blocked ears. This applies to older kids as well. To drink water or suck on sweets or even nibble on raisins.

2) If you have 2 bags or more when travelling, try to split up clothes roughly equally into the bags, in case one bag gets lost. At least you will have some clothes in the other. Also, try to put clothes you need right away at the top of the backpacks (we usually travel with backpacks) especially if you are arriving at night and kids need to be changed right away for bed.

3) Do it free and easy especially for the start and take it easy. It is not very likely you will get to see much (esp for 1st kid) as you will be changing diapers etc. Take it easy and have fun being in a new place with your children.
