How to encourage your child to eat more fruits

    

Much has been said on how to encourage children to eat veggies. This time we will provide you tips on how to encourage your little ones to eat more fruits. Fruits is an excellent source of starches, sugars and Vitamin C , Vitamin A Vitamin A(as beta-carotene ), folate, (B-Vitamins), potassium and dietary fiber. Fruit is also low in salt , fat and energy(calories/kilojoules)

Breakfast                                                       Add raw, canned or dried fruit to breakfast cereal 
Lunch                                                            Think chicken salad with mandarin oranges  
Dessert                                                          Fruit kebabs are attractive and easy to prepare. 
                                                                        You can ask your little one to participate in the preparation.  
Snacks                                                            Include a piece of fruit in lunchboxes  
 
Fruit is also perfect when the family is on the go. It is the perfect healthy fast food. It is convenient to carry and ready to eat anytime.

Tips to select the best fruit:
• Select fruit which is clean firm and crisp with a bright healthy colour.
• Select fresh fruit in season.
• Shop regularly to ensure freshness. Twice a week is a guideline.
• Whenever possible select brands with no added sugar when buying canned or frozen fruit and fruit products. Check the labels.
• Fruit served fresh and whole has more nutritional value since vitamins can be destroyed by peeling, slicing or cooking. Store fruits correctly to maintain quality, flavour and nutritional value.
