Meat is a good source of protein , iron and other essential nutrients. However, toddlers usually reject it as they find it tough, hard to chew and swallow. To encourage a toddler to eat meat, parents should ensure that it is well- cooked and tender enough for their child to chew and swallow. Here are some ways to make meat enjoyable for your toddler:

• mince lean meat, make it into meat balls and add them to porridge or soups
• steam some lean minced meat with a whisked egg and diced carrots for a nutritious steamed omelette
• cut lean meat into thin, small pieces and stir-fry them with vegetables.
• cut lean meat into small cubes and stir-fry them with cooked rice, diced carrots and peas and an egg for some yummy fried rice
• stew big pieces of meat, e.g. chicken drumsticks, in a slow cooker to soften meat
