Strengthen Your Body With Chinese Herbs
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the practice of therapeutic knowledge which originated from 3,000 years of clinical experience based on observation and diagnosis. Tradtional Chinese Medicine mainly helps to maintain a good and healthy female reproductive system, and attempts to treat any ailments early to prevent further pathological changes. The Chinese pay special attention to herbs used for prepregnancy and pregnant mothers. TCM physicians have formulated many well-known Chinese prescriptions that are deemed effective to prepare women for the different stages of pregnancy. Every TCM herbal prescription is customised for each individual. Therefore, not every formulation is suitable for all. It is prescribed according to each patient's specific set of symptoms. It is advised that herbs should be used with great caution and prescribed only by TCM physicians. These herbs are not toxic in nature, but they do have undesirable functions and may cause disruptions to the growing foetus. We would recommend you to consult a well-experienced TCM physician before you supplement your diet with any herb.
In Chinese, the uterus or womb of a mother is known as "Zi Gong", literally translated as "Child Palace". Hence, it is important to create a conducive environment within the uterus for successful conception and smooth delivery. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys and liver are generally responsible for our reproductive ability and the state of the uterus. TCM aims to strengthen body functions to restore balance and harmony before conception. As every individual's body works differently, a detailed TCM assessment would be necessary to find out which aspects of the body are lacking and need to be strengthened. Common dietary tonics recommended may include bird's nest, ginseng and lingzhi. These tonic boosts energy (Qi), promotes overall immunity and improves both mental and physical performance. Always speak to a TCM Physician before consumption of any TCM herbs or supplements.
I feel it is very subjective, TCM works for some while some not, probavly depends on individual's body. Everybody reacted differently to Chinese herbs, if it suits you it will benefit you hence if you want to try, it is good to consult famous physican and monitors if it works for you.
Hi Janice, what I did before I'm pregnant as I'm too skinny and underweight is that I consult Eu Yan Sang TCM and advice them on my plan for pregnancy. They prescribed me with the powder to drink two times a day. I had it like three days and I'm having constipation and feeling heaty in my body. Then I stop. So is really depends on your own body whether can accept the tonic or not.
You can consult the physicians at Eu Yan Sang. They will access your condition and give out medicine accordingly. I had seen one when ttc my first baby. And I succeeded within 2months. :D
Each of our body is different due to the balance of ying and yang. It best to see a Chinese Physician for advise....

I was ttc after my first baby turn 1 yr old but to no avail. I tried naturally for 1 yr and felt age was catching up on me and my hubby and i didn't want to wait any further, i turned to western invention with 2 failed attempts of IUI for 1 yr before i decided to turn to TCM. Both me and my hubby took chinese herbs for about 1 yr before conceiving my second baby and i continue to take it throughout my pregnancy, even after that. I understand children are god's gift but i'm glad i turned to TCM. I strongly believe i benefitted from TCM. Like the answers given, self medication for chinese herbs is not advisable, u can consult an experienced physician specialising in fertility for regulating the well being of your body before ttc your second baby.
I consulted chinese physician Tan Siew Buoy located in Chinatown when I was ttc.I got preggy 5months after taking the Chinese herbs she Prescribed and continue to take "an-tai" herbs during the pregnancy. She only sees patients who are ttc and she can even prescribe medcine to supplement those who are going through western treatments like IUI or IVF. I know she successfully helped a Korean lady 50yr old to conceive thru IVF and delivered a pair of twins. First time mum at 50yr old. Its amazing ,isn't it? Hence I strongly believe in TCM as she treats every patient differently- different herbs for individual as everyone 's body constituition is different and different herbs for same individual depending how your body condition changes. So there is no one medicine that cures all but really personalized medicine prescribed.
