Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

Beefy Beans

Ingredients

  • 100 g fresh beef lean mince
  • 50 g trimmed green beans, cut into 0.5 cm pieces
  • 160 g potatoes, cut into 8 pieces
  • Optional: 2 tbsp of prepared follow-on formula

 

Stove or oven method:

Fry the beef without added fat in a non-stick pan until lightly browned, then add 1 tbsp water.

Cook the potatoes in a pan, steaming the beans in a sieve or steaming rack over them for around 8 minutes until tender.

Blend the beans and beef together with 1 tbsp of water until smooth.

Mash the potatoes with 2 tbsp of water or prepared follow-on formula.

Mash in the bean and beef mix into the potatoes or blend to suit your baby’s texture preferences.
