Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

"Thanks for your question! Our Healthcare Expert will be answering some questions every week but in the meantime, here's a little tip from our Careline! Fussy eating among toddlers can be very common though they can eat and enjoy a wide variety of foods and textures. This is the time to encourage her to enjoy family meals and try a wide range of foods, tastes, flavours and textures. We have some suggestions here which may help your fussy eating toddler: 1) Be a role model by eating healthily with varied diet together as a family. 2) Serve the same food as the family eats 3) Serve a new food with one your child likes 4) Be patient and keep offering new foods, even if they are rejected at first. 5) Let your child explore food by touching and expect some mess. 6) Enjoy family meals together at a table, so toddlers can watch and copy as well as enjoy each other's company while eating. 7) Keep mealtimes relaxed. Don’t have too many distractions like having theTV turned on. 8) Let children feed themselves and give help if needed. Most importantly, patience is key. Slowly she will learn that there are other foods that are as tasty as pasta!"

"Some kids are like that, they just have their own preference for food esp at this age. This is very normal so do not need to worry. As long as she continue to eat, it is fine. Just try to expose her to different variety of food till she is able to accept some other food. Maybe she prefer tomato sauce based food, so you can cook something similar with rice too. Try different ways of cooking to entice her. "

"Perhaps u can put similar ingredients (what u put into the pasta) into the porridge. Have varieties, such as veg, meat etc..so that she can have all the necessary nutrients. Do not give in to her req to have pasta every day, otherwise, she will think that she can and will have pasta every day. Children are like that..even my kids, sometimes they just don't want to try new food, as they are afraid that its not nice. But I do not give in to them. "

"I would presume that your girl is actually well thrived and weight on a stable growth percentile. Most children who are hungry would ask for food, and thus maintain growth. It is a matter of choice that they prefer milk, than solids. I would suggest building on what she likes, eg. adding variety to her pasta, rather than forcing her to take other solids she dislike. Hopefully with time, she would move to other food types. The advice is kept general and not a substitute for a consultation. Kindly consult your doctor or pediatrician as a detailed history and examination is important to come to a diagnosis and treatment plan.
