Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

"I think this depends on the sonographer, the position of the baby, when you do the scan (how many weeks the baby is in) and other factors. My baby was very naughty during the detailed scan at 20 weeks, he crossed his legs during the scan and we cannot tell his gender. The sonographer tried to jiggle the tummy so that baby will move his hands but still cannot. End up, I had to walk around the clinic for 30 minutes and went back again to scan his gender."

"The answer is yes! My gynae scan at every visit to estimate baby's weight and at the same time look at the general growth of the baby. by about 4 months plus, we found out the gender of the baby and it was further confirmed at the 20 week detailed scan."

"other than scan, a blood test can actually tell the gender of the baby. A relative of mine got pregnant at age >35 and had to do a blood test during her first trimester and doc told her the gender of the baby then!"

"Yes, but it will be more accurate after the 1st trimester and usually around week 20 onwards to be more accurate as sometimes the genitals are not fully developed yet and you might have "false" gender prediction. It also depends how your baby is positioned and if he/she cooperate during the scan. Some babies close the legs tightly or hide from the "camera" n you will not be able to see anything. But dun worry, after a few scans, you will definitely have a chance to tell e gender. ;p"

"ya when u hv a detail scan on the 20th week . if your little one is naughty then u will hv to wait till he / she changes its position as my one was naughty when the docter was scanning he use to turn if, even cover his face , i can't tell u if was a lot of fun , this nearly happened as my little started growing he was very fast in changing position . I dont know how he could know it , but it was fun. It is even good to the gender of the baby as you can be well prepared for the confinement period as u are to be at home with yr baby. it will not matter what it will be . Just wis that u & yr baby is healthy & hv a happy life ahead as these angels are really precious."

"Yes, as early as 15 weeks, I know my baby's gender through ultrasound at 17 weeks and gynae said he will confirmed again, sonographer double confirmed the gender when we went for detail scan at 20 weeks. Position plays a important part during the scan. But gynae will tell u the percentage of the gender as there have been instances that the gender was not as told by gynae."
