Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

Ingredients

  • ½ avocado, peeled, pitted and roughly chopped
  • 600 ml milk or growing-up milk
  • 4 tbsp plain yoghurt
  • One or two other fruits (e.g. 1 banana, handful of washed strawberries or frozen blueberries)
  • Optional: some honey to taste

Stove or oven method:

Simply blend all the ingredients until smooth and serve!

Tips

Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fat and minerals like potassium. They can be easily served as they are – pitted and sliced in half into 'boats' – or blended into a shake with fruits like this recipe.
