Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Apple and Orange Custard

Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 5 ml grated orange rind
  • 15 ml orange juice
  • 15 ml custard powder
  • 5 ml caster sugar
  • 150 ml fresh milk or prepared follow-on formula

 

Stove or oven method:

Cut the apple into four, then core, peel and slice.

Add apple slices into a pan with the orange rind and juice.

Cover and cook gently for 10 minutes until the apples are soft.

Mix the custard powder with a little milk to make a smooth paste.

Boil the rest of the milk and stir into the custard mixture.

Bring the apples to a boil, stirring until mixture has thickened and is smooth.

Blend or mash the apple and then add in the custard, stirring to mix.​​
